Nathan Donselaar

Nathan Van Donselaar,

CFP® Financial Advisor

Nathan believes money is never just about numbers. Every financial decision reflects something deeper: the experiences that shaped a family, the opportunities pursued, the responsibilities carried, and the hopes people hold for the future.

As a Certified Financial Planner® Professional with over 15 years of experience, Nathan leads Main Street Advisory Group with the understanding that thoughtful planning begins by listening. Markets fluctuate and tax laws evolve, but the most important part of financial planning is understanding the story behind the numbers.

Nathan works closely with individuals and families to build plans that reflect the full landscape of their lives. Retirement preparation, tax-aware investing, charitable giving, estate planning, and legacy strategies are all part of the conversation. But the real work begins by understanding what matters most to the people he serves and how their financial decisions connect to the life they want to build.

His approach is grounded in adaptability and perspective. Financial plans are not static documents; they evolve as careers develop, families grow, markets shift, and priorities change. Nathan believes the role of an advisor is not simply to manage assets, but to provide steady guidance that helps clients navigate those changes with clarity and confidence.

At Main Street Advisory Group, that philosophy is shared across the team: money carries history, values, and intention. When those elements are understood, planning becomes less about formulas and more about thoughtful stewardship of a life’s work.

Outside the office, Nathan’s life reflects the same commitment to community and mentorship that shapes his professional approach. He and his wife Jillian live in Pella with their three daughters, Cailyn, Malia, and Ellaina, along with their two dogs. Much of his time outside work is spent in local gyms and on basketball courts. You will often find Nathan coaching basketball, a pastime that allows him to invest in the growth and confidence of the next generation, something he finds both energizing and deeply rewarding.
